YOU REALLY HAD TO BE THERE!
Four days and nights of food, festivities, and fun, fun, fun. Lake Skinner just keeps getting better – and bigger. We had 275 coaches attending our GetAway and a long waiting list. As usual, the National RV owners came to party. We had four days and nights with all of our rally buddies, and made some new friends along the way. There were over one hundred first-time attendees at this event. It is gratifying to see so many coach owners so enthusiastic about the club and its parties.
In addition to the Q & A sessions for club members, Brian Glass, Chris Nelson and Len Southwick held a forum with the ladies for feedback and suggestions on future product. This was well-attended and received by all involved.
Our golf tournament at Menifee Lakes Country Club was a huge success with 74 golfers teeing-up. They all had a great time and all claimed to shoot under par! It turned out to be a beautiful day, so everybody was pleased.
Kay from RV Casuals put on a fun fashion show for the ladies. The club members sipped tea and munched on cookies and petit fours while the models showed us the latest in casual wear for the RV lifestyle. Of course, this necessitated some shopping time so we can always look extra special while on the road.
We had our game day with Gonzo Golf and Blongo Ball. Everybody was very competitive for our day of “No-lympics.” The winners for Gonzo received trophies and the best Blongo players were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. This is a great way for everybody to make new friends and get those competitive juices flowing.
There were seminars, a craft show, an “art speak” open studio and – our personal favorite – a pet parade. Since it was St. Patrick’s Day, most of the critters were dressed in green – except for the black and white cat dressed in a top hat, ascot and monicle. Being animal lovers, we wanted to take home all of the loveable little creatures.
We had our usual bingo games and drawings. Lucky winners galore!
Cutting Edge catered all of our meals and, as usual, Brian and Paul did a fabulous job for us. Every meal was delicious and plentiful. Absolute requirements for our club members.
Len Southwick, President of NRV, and his family attended the event Friday and took the opportunity to speak to club members about product, the state of the company, and what the future holds.
Joe McDermott had the rally attendees that were lucky enough to purchase new coaches spin the wheel for fuel cards. With lots of cheering-on from the audience, some were lucky enough to receive $2000 in fuel.
Three evenings of entertainment had everybody up on their feet and dancing. The Hired Hands Band played country music for us; The Stingers played a 50’s and 60’s rock ‘n roll show; and the wonderful Ron and Kay Rivoli mixed it up for us with RV parodies and dance music. A standing ovation for all.
Of course we could not do this without our great volunteers. We love all of you! And a special thanks to John Burden for all of his fabulous photos.
The biggest and most grateful thank you is to Jennifer. She is truly a jewel and there is nothing she will not do for us and the club.
Now it is time to get busy on the Asheville, North Carolina GetAway. The sign-ups are coming in and we are looking forward to seeing everybody in August. Thanks for all your support everywhere we go.
